Versions/Audio Samples

The GoBible® Voyager™ Device is available in three versions, The New International Version (NIV) read by Charles Taylor, The King James Version (KJV) as read by Alexander Scourby and the The New King James Version (NKJV) as read by Stephen Johnston.

The New International Version®

The New International Version (NIV), presented by GoBible® features Charles Taylor reading the world's most read, most trusted translation. For more than 25 years people around the world have treasured the clarity and accuracy of the NIV.

The NIV was commissioned in the late 1960's and more than one hundred scholars worked for over a decade to complete the translation. Central to the project were certain goals for the NIV: that it be an accurate, beautiful, clear, and dignified translation suitable for public and private reading, teaching, preaching, memorizing, and liturgical use. The translators were united in their commitment to the authority and infallibility of the Bible as God's Word in written form. They agreed that faithful communication of the meaning of the original writers demands frequent modifications in sentence structure (resulting in a "thought-for-thought" translation) and constant regard for the contextual meanings of words.

The King James Version

Authorized by King James in 1604, this classic Bible translation was completed in 1611 and has remained one of the most popular Bible translations since.  It is identifiable from its rhythm, prose and  beautifully crafted language.  The KJV has had a profound effect on literature, poetry and prose for almost four centuries.

The New King James Version

Commissioned by Thomas Nelson Publishers in 1975, the NKJV was completed in 1982.  This popular modern translation holds true to the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic texts while using language that contemporary readers and worshippers could more easily relate to.  The NKJV has remained one of the most popular “modern” translations of the Bible for decades.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
